The article was written by Jane E. Brody who is a specialist in medicine and biology at the time she joins The New York Times in 1965. Besides having degrees in biochemistry and science writing at The New York State College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Cornell University and the University of Winconsin School of Journalism respectively, she is also a mother of a twin boys and a grandmother of four. She was active in writing as a Personal Health columnist for The New York Times and also the author of her own best-seller's book.
The article is mainly about the concerns that portrayed by the writer. She try to convey that the excessive amount of screen time to children could affect the kid's development. Writer quoted that children should not exposed to gadget before the age of two because it may disturb the child rapid brain development at the moment. Rather than feeding them with electronic devices, children should be given more interaction with real-world.
Throughout the article, the writer has given the point perfectly done by quoting some scientific research and supported by other doctor's medical statement. The writer has big advantage where she's the specialist in the area and simply provide the main point by some research that has been done. The only flaw that I can mention is the alternative that the writer didn't provide. There's so much information contained but there's no clear solution for the problem statement.
When it comes to my second thought, I'm slightly disagree that children exposed to violence game can affect their attitude. I believe that some research have been done about this matter and it is not the main cause for a child change of attitude. It may play some role but it is not the main actor that we're looking for. I'm speaking on behalf of myself that plays those kind of violence games but it doesn't make me to be more aggressive and so on.
To conclude that, the writer try to raise awareness and concern that might occur because of the early exposure on the electronic gadget. Parents should play their role in order for those development can be use for beneficial purpose.
